JUNIOR & ADULT INSTRUCTION


Darren Kindred

Darren Kindred, Director of Tennis
USPTR and USPTA certified, Darren has been a teaching professional since1990. He is a graduate of the A.A.S. Tennis Technology Program at Tyler Junior College in Texas. In 2006 and 2007, he served on Prince’s Presidential Pro Council. In addition to his position at BCRC, Darren has served since 2005 as the Director of Tennis for OPAF (Orthotic & Prosthetic Assistance Fund). He travels internationally to conduct adaptive tennis clinics for the organization. Darren was instrumental in OPAF being honored this year with the USTA National Award for Community Service in Adaptive Tennis. Darren has taught at BCRC since 1999 and has held the position of Tennis Director since 2003.

 


Todd Dlugosz Todd Dlugosz, Director of Junior Development - USPTR Certified
Todd has taught professionally since 1995 in the Tri-State area. He played college tennis at Kutztown University and served as Junior Supervisor for the Nick Bolletteiri Tennis Academy. In 2004 and 2005, Todd won the A Level Volley for SERV doubles tournament along with partner David Mercier. He has coached multiple BCRC Adult USTA teams to Districts as well as BCRC’s Junior USTA teams to Sectionals in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2007. Todd joined BCRC in 1999 and has held the position of Junior Director since 2002 and Junior Summer Camp Director since 2003.

 

Gilma Fitzgibbon Gilma Fitzgibbon, Director of New Programs and Tournament Training - Gilma relocated to Bucks County from Florida in 2004 where he had been a private coach for the sectional ranked tournament player, Sasha Khabibulin. USPTA certified, Gilma has taught since 1990 and holds a Tennis Tech Program A.A.S. degree from Tyler Junior College . He is the former Group Supervisor at Saddlebrook Academy . Gilma has taught throughout the US as well as in Europe working with ITF World and Nationally ranked juniors. He has also played satellite tournaments as well as coached other pro players on the satellite tour including National Junior Champions of Germany.

Marty DevlinMarty Devlin
At the age of 36, Marty began playing tennis and became #1 in the nation (USTA 45 and over division) and #10 in the world. He’s also won 3 National Championships on 3 different surfaces. Marty is in the Rider University Athletic Hall of Fame and more recently was inducted in the Middle States Hall of Fame. Marty teaches at the club in the winter months and off-site in the summer and late-Spring months. BCRC is proud to have such a legendary, local tennis icon as Marty associated with our club.

SENIOR TEACHING PROFESSIONALS

David Mercier David Mercier
David has been teaching at BCRC since 2003. He is a certified Instructor I and II by the Quebec Tennis Federation. He is the 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 Cryan Tournament Doubles Champion with partner German Dalmagro. He was ranked #23 in NCAA doubles Division 1 (2002). David was was the Canadian Doubles Champion in 1997 (18 & under) and all Conference singles and doubles from 1999-2002 as a member of the University of Utah.

 

Rick Horn Ronald “Rick” T. Horn
A well-liked local teaching professional, Rick joined BCRC October 2005. Rick has played competitive tennis since college. When attending Brookdale Junior College his team went to Nationals in 1987 and 1988; the team finished 12th in the country in 1988. He also played for Trenton State College from 1989-1990. Rick has been an Assistant Coach and Head Coach to 4 USTA teams that went to Nationals at the 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5 level as well as Head Coach to many teams that have made it to the District and Sectional levels.

 

Eric Tavel Erik Tavel
Erik has taught since 1992 in the Central Jersey and Bucks County area. He played competitive team tennis for Mercer County Community College as well as Rowan University. In 2004, Erik was named "Most Improved Player" for the Cryan Tournament, Mercer County by the Trenton Times. Erik is married and has 2 young children.

 

Maggie Coe Maggie Coe
Maggie has worked at BCRC since 1999. Maggie runs her own company full-time but enjoys the opportunity to work with players of all ages and abilities on the weekends at Bucks. Prior to BCRC, she taught at Green Valley Racquet club and coached high school boy’s tennis. Under her guidance, the boys team had several undefeated seasons allowing them to go to state championships. Maggie is also an experienced player who has gone on to play at two National USTA championship tournaments.

 

Shana Morris Shana E. Morris - USPTR Certified
Shana has worked at BCRC on a part-time basis while attending high school and college since 2002. Upon completing attendance at East Stroudsburg University in 2008, Shana joined BCRC full-time. While a Health & PE Major at Stroudsburg, Shana played #1 Singles and #1 Doubles for the Women's Tennis team. In 2005, Shana and tennis partner Angela Dipastina won the prestigious Volley for Serv Women's "A" Doubles Division tournament held annually in Cherry Hill, NJ. She was also the #1 Singles player for Council Rock High School. Shana continues to play competitively at the 4.5 and 4.0 USTA level locally. She is certified with the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) and resides in Bucks County.

 

Carrie Tofig Carrie Tofig – USPTR Certified
Carrie joins BCRC with over 30 years of competitive tennis experience. A former local High School & Colegiate standout, Carrie was ranked as a Junior and went to both the NCAA Community College and Division II National Championships. She has been a strong presence in USTA and is currently ranked as a 4.5 player. She is certified with the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR). Carrie brings a high level of enthusiasm and intensity to her students focusing on helping each person reach their potential. Carrie, her husband Alan and her two children reside in Upper Makefield, PA.

 

Marc Petchel Marc Petchel
Marc has taught tennis locally since 1985. He’s taught at Mercer County Community College Summer Tennis Camp since 1987 and is currently the Director. Mark also holds the title of Co-Director of the Hillsborough Recreation Adult and Youth Summer Tennis camps. Mark has a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and is a 4th grade teacher at the Lore School in Ewing, NJ . He’s the proud father of two beautiful beautiful twin daughters, Darby and Jordan.
