Our Pros meet to insure a consistent and thorough instructional program is offered for each student of every level. We love tennis, and want to share that passion! We feel our work both on and off court make us one of the finest teaching academies in the area.

 

Al Hernandez

Tennis Director

Over the past 28 years, Al has worked with some of the areas top juniors during his tenure in Bucks County, PA.  Some of his former students include the #1 Singles players from Council Rock North & South High Schools, the #2 Women’s Singles player for University of Iowa (who also was All Big 10), the #1 Men’s singles player for University of Montana and most recently the #4 Men’s Singles & #1 Doubles player from College of New Jersey 2017.  As for his long and illustrious playing career, Al has won numerous national tournaments including 2014 and 2017 Yale Senior Slam Nationals.  To his credit he has 5 Gold Balls, 18 Silver Balls & 10 Bronze Balls which signify National Championships won.


Todd Dlugosz

Todd has taught tennis professionally since 1995 in the Tri-State area, joining BCRC's staff in 1999. He played college tennis at Kutztown University and served as Junior Supervisor for the Nick Bolletteiri Tennis Academy. In 2004 and 2005, Todd won the A Level Volley for SERV doubles tournament along with his doubles partner David Mercier. He has successfully coached multiple BCRC Adult USTA teams to Districts, as well as BCRC's Junior USTA teams to Sectionals in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2007. Todd served as Junior Tennis Director from 2002-2009, and now is the acting Director of Adult and Junior League Development. 


Carrie has been a part of BCRC's teaching staff since 2007 and resides in Upper Makefield with her husband and 2 daughters. She gained years of experience playing competitively before she began instructing; in addition to her accomplishments as an avid Teaching Professional, Carrie's on-court success includes being a Junior College National Singles Champion and Division II College Standout. She has also won numerous Singles and Doubles Championships at Trenton Country Club and at the 4.5 Tournament level. Carrie brings her enthusiasm to all her Adult & Junior classes, where she instills a love for the game of tennis through a combination of coaching and skill development.

Jeff is a certified USPTA Level One Tennis Instructor with 25+ years of experience. As a Division I college player at Towson State University, Jeff captured the ECAC Doubles Championship before embarking upon his teaching career. He has been a Tennis Instructor at East Brunswick Racquet Club (East Brunswick, NJ), a Director of Junior Tennis at Pennsbury Racquet and Athletic Club (Morrisville, PA), and a Head Tennis Professional at Nassau Racquet Club (Montgomery, NJ). Jeff has also coached championship-winning boys and girls high school teams at Immaculata High School (Sommerville, NJ), Highland Park High School, Franklin Township High School and Princeton Day School [aka PDS]. He currently is a Senior Staff Professional at Bucks County Racquet Club and is in charge of Team Tennis and is the USTA Liaison.

Shana has over 10 years teaching experience at BCRC and brings a strong playing background and love of tennis to students of all ages and levels. Shana was a Division 2 - East Stroudsburg University tennis player and has played USTA competition at the 4.5+ level for the past 10 years. She also has years of experience coaching and teaching 2.5-3.5 USTA teams. Call to find out what classes and private lesson times Shana has available starting in September.

Gabriela Durand

Staff Professional

Gabriela played tennis at a competitive level while attending local the high school Council Rock North, where she won both the Suburban One League Conference and the Jr. Shark Tournament in 2008. She obtained both her B.S. and M.S. degrees from West Chester University in 2013 and 2015, consecutively, and has experience playing Division II and Division III college tennis for both West Chester University and Cabrini College. At Cabrini College, she won the colonial states athletic conference in addition to receiving several conference academic awards. She has previous teaching experience as a tennis pro instructor for Bucks County Tennis Association (a USTA-certified program) and is the current head coach for William Tennent High School. Much of the perspective and experience that Gabriela shares on court today also come from attending the elite IMG and Saddlebrook Academies located in Florida. 


Rachel Pierson

Fresh off the International Tennis Federation (ITF) tour, Rachel joins our teaching staff with quite the impressive tennis background. Rachel comes from a familythat have made their careers in tennis as coaches. She played first Singles & Doubles for Texas A&M (2015- 2017), received NCAA/ITA All-American honors in both singles and doubles (2017), ranked No. 4 in the national NCAA/ITA doubles ranking (2017), ranked No. 16 NCAA/ITA singles (2017). Most recently Rachel, won the well known, local Cryan and Aronamink Open tournaments in NJ & PA. Rachel has taught high performance junior players at the Youth Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego and Pebble Creek Country Club in College Station, Texas. She loves working with dedicated tennis players from Juniors to Adults.


David Piersig

Dave has been coaching tennis for over 14 years. He began his teaching career in the parks system at both Frosty Hollow and Core Creek Tennis creating lessons and league play. He's since taught at several local, indoor tennis facilities. He was also the Head Coach for the Stern High School tennis team in Philadelphia. He took the team to the playoffs 2 of the 3 years as coach. Dave enjoys instructing players of all ages and abilities and believes everyone can improve and develop their comfort and skills on the court. His continued advanced education in tennis instruction in both fundamentals and high performance techniques adds to his ability as a teaching professional.
